Marissa Lemus

Born and raised in Guatemala, Marissa started on a journey fueled by a passion for science and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Graduating from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, she conducted groundbreaking research on the molecular characterization of corn for her thesis, aiming to contribute to her country's fight against hunger. Determined to her career in biotechnology, Marissa made the leap to Boston, where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at Northeastern University, graduating summa cum laude and is now finishing her MS in Molecular Biotechnology. Currently, Marissa is at the forefront of cell therapy process development at Prime Medicine in Cambridge, MA, driving innovation and progress in the field. Marissa is also dedicated to supporting underrepresented students, having provided mentorship and guidance to low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities through the TRIO Student Success Program. She is deeply involved in fostering diversity and inclusion, during her time at Northeastern University, she served as a student member of the CPS Council for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and currently she supports the efforts of the Ethnocultural Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee of the ISPE Boston Chapter to bring a more inclusive environment in the pharmaceutical community. With her multifaceted expertise and dedication to inclusivity, Marissa is driving positive change in both her professional and community endeavors.
