Women in Pharma® Makes a Splash at 2022 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo

ISPE’s Women in Pharma® group strives to tackle unconscious biases that limit women, and other marginalized groups, within the pharmaceutical community. Over the last few years, the group has grown to be a global force across borders, connecting industry professionals through regional and international programming, including having a presence at the 2022 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo. This year – thanks to the generous support of CAI - Women in Pharma programming leveled up to match the grandeur of the 2022 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo venue: The Gaylord Palms in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Kicking off on Sunday (30 October), Women in Pharma® welcomed a packed room of nearly 200 attendees for the Career Connections – Developing Your Personal Brand workshop. The two-hour meeting was centered around emotional intelligence and building personal brands, welcoming industry professionals of all experience levels, backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. With guest speakers Kara Kirby, Founder of Insights Leadership Group, and Phil Gerbyshak, LinkedIn Sales Trainer, Sr. Sale Enablement Program Manager at BambooHR, the workshop attendees walked away with new skills on maximizing workplace contributions, making meetings more effective for introverts, and spruced up LinkedIn profiles ready to impress.

In collaboration with ISPE’s Emerging Leaders initiative, Women in Pharma® launched its inaugural Speed Networking Dinner on Monday night at the Gaylord Palms’ Villa Nova restaurant. The unique experience welcomed close to 150 guests and included an unconventional approach to getting to know one another. Broken out into groups, the bells were rung as tables broke out into discussions surrounding career lessons and cultural nuances. The evening consisted of hard-hitting to palate-cleansing questions, spanning from who was your worst boss, and what was the greatest lesson you learned from that experience to what is your favorite holiday and how do you celebrate it within your culture? The event was intended to share important knowledge and key takeaways across the various generations and levels of expertise reflected within the attendees.
